Onthe 19th of September, OrchardLodge care home, part of the Kathryn Homesgroup, hosted an engaging outdoor arts and crafts workshop, bringing togetherresidents from all four units in the home's main garden. The event, held undersunny skies, allowed residents to showcase their creativity by painting appleblossom trees and crafting daffodil windmills, resulting in a collection ofbeautiful, handmade creations.
Theworkshop was organised by OrchardLodge's Lifestyle Coordinator, Marianne, andsupported by carer Sinead. The activity provided residents with the chance toconnect in a relaxed, joyful environment. Using materials such as paper,paints, and cardboard, participants expressed their artistic talents whileenjoying the therapeutic benefits of being outdoors in the sunshine.
Thiscommunal activity encouraged residents from different units to interact,fostering a sense of community across the home. It also offered an opportunityfor residents to enjoy the fresh air and engage in a creative outlet thatpromoted relaxation and social interaction.
Margaret,one of the residents, expressed her pride by stating, "I've done a greatjob, this is great!" Fellow resident Doreen complimented another’s work,saying, "Your painting is beautiful!" Cora shared her appreciationfor the day, remarking, "The sun is just lovely, this is such a beautifulday."
LifestyleCoordinator Marianne also praised the residents, saying, "Everyone hasdone such a great job, these paintings are amazing. Well done!"
Thisoutdoor workshop underscored the importance of creative activities forresidents, providing a therapeutic, enjoyable, and communal way for them toexpress themselves and connect with one another.
